Some lightning is possible on Saturday and a small chance for hail - it doesn't look like the Saturday event will produce large hail. A few reports of hail are possible. The tornado risk on Saturday should be very low.
.
.
If you have outdoor events then monitor for lightning on Saturday.

This forecast analysis covers far southern Illinois, southeast Missouri, southwest Indiana, western Kentucky, and northwest Tennessee
.
HEADLINES: Thunderstorms today produced widespread reports of large hail and a few tornadoes. The storms were caused by an upper level low that moved over the area. Very cold air aloft and low freezing levels helped produce copious amounts of hail.
.
The main area of tornado activity tracked through Cape Girardeau County, MO into Jefferson County, Illinois. One person was killed in southern Illinois when their mobile home was struck by a tornado.
.
This was a cold core tornado outbreak.
.
The system that caused today's severe weather is slowly moving east across our region - it will be slow to exit. There will be another chance for thunderstorms on Saturday. The energy won't be quite as intense as today's event (Friday's event). A few reports of hail can't be ruled out.
.
Sunday should be dry. Warmer, as well.

Remember that as a general policy, in the long range outlook, I try not to mention severe thunderstorms more than 72 hours in advance (unless the signal is so overwhelmingly convincing that it warrants a mention). I will mention thunderstorm risks and I will give as many details as possible. Also remember you can view the long range severe weather outlooks by visiting the Storm Prediction Center's web-site - click here

1. No long range tonight.
Now is a GREAT time to buy a NOAA All Hazards Weather Radio. Better to have one before storms strike than to be without one during an event. I recommend the Midland Model 300 NOAA All Hazards Weather Radio - that is what I use here at my house!
