Saturday morning update...
.
The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma has shifted the slight risk a bit further south into the northern parts of southeast Missouri and southern Illinois.   If you need to view radar today - click here.
,
No real changes in the sensible forecast - a few scattered thunderstorms are possible today over the northern half of the region and northwest part of the region.  A few of the storms, if they form, could be on the strong side.  Otherwise - for the rest of us it will be partly cloudy and mild.  Quite a few clouds around this morning.
.
Latest SPC Severe Outlook - the yellow means a general sub-severe level thunderstorm is possible (not severe) and the orange is where a few storms could be strong/severe with hail and winds - isolated tornado.  You can view all the outlooks and the written text for the outlook by clicking here.

.
HEADLINE:  A CALMER WEATHER PATTERN!!!
.
It appears we will remain mostly dry for the weekend.  Can't rule out a stray shower on Saturday as the storm system pulls away to our north - but I don't think the chance is great and would be mostly over our far northern or northwestern counties.
,
Speaking of active - let's take a look at all of the tornadoes that have been reported so far this year.  Quite amazing amount of tornadoes.  Map from the Storm Prediction Center, in Normal, Oklahoma.  Green is hail - blue is wind - red dots are tornadoes.  Does it appear that we have been quite busy?  The answer would be YES!

.
We will see warmer temperatures in the coming days - almost hot.  I like to reserve the word hot for 90 and above.  So - we shall see.
.
Did you know it is STILL snowing in Canada?  This weather pattern has brought cold weather to our northern neighbors.  Click here for more information and images of the snow - click here.

Canada can keep the snow - we will be having warm conditions - almost hot!  I hope everyone has a nice holiday weekend - stay safe out there.
