1 PM Update

Fine tuning the forecast

I like our snow chances in the coming 10 day period.  Several systems to keep an eye on.  Of course we never count our snow flakes before the hatch - errr fall.   I believe we may see several inches of snow towards the end of next week and then another system towards the Sunday into Tuesday time frame of the following week.  Could become quite snowy!

Let me first show you this new graphic from the NWS - this is the outlook for freezing rain on Sunday evening  into Monday afternoon.  You can see an area to our southwest - we will have to watch this.

We will be dealing with precipitation on Monday into Tuesday.   But, there are still a lot of questions on whether we will warm up enough to make this an all rain event.  Questions - questions.  Everything is pointing more and more towards a mostly rain event.

Anyway - here is the new graphic (I suspect we will have to fill in portions of our region with some frozen chances, as well - but after the time period this graphic covers).  A

gain - this is the probability of freezing rain from Sunday evening into Monday afternoon.  What happens in our region will depend on what time the precipitation moves into our counties.

Right now it appears Monday or Monday afternoon into Tuesday would bring a mixture of precipitation to our local counties.  Likely changing to all rain.  Again - amounst would be light.
I will continue to fine tune the forecast.

Next update will likely be later this evening - after 9 pm.  A full update later tonight - after 10 pm.  Next video update will also be around 10 pm or 11 pm.

Bottom line it for me Beau...

For southern Illinois and far western Kentucky...

The forecast for severe or extreme weather risk for today, tonight, and tomorrow: Cold weather

The forecast for freezing rain, sleet, or snow today, tonight, and tomorrow:  No precipitation expected through Saturday afternoon.

Forecast:
Friday - Partly sunny.  High temperature around 35 degrees.
Friday Night - Some clouds.  Cold.  Low temperature around 25 degrees.
Saturday - Increasing clouds.  High temperatures in the middle 30s.
Saturday Night - Cloudy.  Some fog possible.  Very slight chance for freezing drizzle or light snow.  Low temperatures in the lower to middle to upper 20s.
Sunday - Mostly cloudy with just a slight chance of a few patches of light precipitation. High temperatures in the middle 30s.

Sunday Night - Cloudy with a slight chance of precipitation.  Lows in the upper 20s or lower 30s.
Monday - A mixture of light precipitation possible - changing to rain.  Highs in the 30s.

Very low confidence in precipitation chances - this forecast will need to be fine tuned as we draw closer to the time period.
A mixture of precipitation will be possible Sunday into Tuesday - some questions on how warm it becomes - when it changes to rain.  Which appears likely.   Right now it appears at least some chance for a mix changing to rain then back to frozen precipitation.

Complicated forecast for this time period.  Stay tuned for updates.
