The next weather concern in our region will arrive on Sunday.  Showers are forecast to spread from the southwest towards the northeast across our region on Sunday morning into the afternoon hours.  There is a window of opportunity for some wintry mix on Sunday morning.

Questions remain about how far east to place the precipitation chances.  I think the best chance of a wintry mix would be from the Poplar Bluff area towards Carbondale and Mt Vernon - north west of that line.

Uncertain about east and southeast of that line.  With that said - keep in mind that there might be a few hours of freezing rain or sleet on Sunday morning before the warmer air arrives.
.
Thunderstorms will be possible on Monday/Tuesday.

For my personal thoughts on all of the above please visit the Facebook page.  I am posting more frequently there with graphics and information.

This forecast analysis covers far southern Illinois, southeast Missouri, southwest Indiana, western  Kentucky, and northwest Tennessee

HEADLINES:  Welcome to the weekend!  Saturday will be chilly - no precipitation of concern.  Sunday will bring rain chances back into the area.  The rain may start as a mixture of freezing rain and sleet.  Temperatures should rise above freezing by Sunday afternoon.  This would change all the precipitation to rain.

Shower and thunderstorm chances will continue into Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.  Locally heavy downpours will be possible with thunderstorms - best chance of this would be on Tuesday/night.

Watching for the potential of a few severe thunderstorms, as well.

A chance for a wintry mix on Sunday morning - will update tomorrow concerning that

Monitor updated forecasts over the coming 3-4 days.  Chance for storms on Tuesday.

Watching for a wintry mix on Sunday morning - a brief window of opportunity before temperatures warm up above freezing on Sunday afternoon.  Any accumulation would be light - keep in mind that any freezing rain or sleet can cause slick roadways, sidewalks, and porches.

A wintry mix on Sunday morning will be possible.  This is especially true over southeast MO and southern IL.  I can't completely rule it out over all of the area - a bit unsure just how far south and east to bring the frozen precipitation chances.

Just to be safe - check radars on Sunday morning before heading out to church services or elsewhere.

Now is a GREAT time to buy a NOAA All Hazards Weather Radio.  Better to have one before storms strike than to be without one during an event.  I recommend the Midland Model 300 NOAA All Hazards Weather Radio - that is what I use here at my house!
