A wintry mix is likely to develop tonight and Friday morning over the area. Right now it appears that actual amounts of precipitation should be on the light side. HOWEVER, I caution that even light amounts of freezing rain and sleet can cause major travel headaches. It is not uncommon to have fatality accidents in our region from light freezing precipitation events. For my personal thoughts on all of the above please visit the Facebook page. HEADLINES: The main story today will be the chance for a wintry mix later tonight and into the early morning hours of Friday.
There continues to be some disagreement among the model data as to just how much precipitation falls. It may be that parts of the area only receive a trace of precipitaton - other areas may pick up 0.10"-0.30" of precipitation. If this falls in the form of freezing rain, sleet, and snow then it could cause slick roadways and sidewalks. Use care and caution on Friday morning in the event a wintry mix does develop.
Another precipitation event should arrive on Sunday. Right now it appears that a mixture of precipitation changing to rain would be the best bet. I will keep an eye on that system. Looks active into next week, as well with a chance for showers and thunderstorms.
