Here are my current personal forecast thoughts for far southern Illinois and western Kentucky...

Showers and thunderstorms over the coming days will be most widespread over the northern half of the region - say form Poplar Bluff, MO to Madisonville, KY - then northward.  There will be chances of storms, however, over the entire region.  See forecast rainfall graphic below to get a general idea of where the heaviest rains are forecast to fall.

Tonight (Tuesday night):  Mostly cloudy with a chance for thunderstorms - a few storms could become severe with hail and high winds.
Above normal temperatures
Highs: in the 64-68 degree range  |  Normal lows for this time of the year are around 57 degrees.
Wind: South winds at 5-10 mph - gusty near storms
Precipitation probability - 40%-60%  Rainfall totals:
0.25"-0.75" with locally heavier amounts where thunderstorms train
Confidence in this forecast is very high

This forecast analysis covers far southern Illinois, southeast Missouri, southwest Indiana, western Kentucky, and northwest Tennessee

HEADLINES:   A stationary front is draped across the region - this front will remain in the area through the upcoming work week.  This front will be the focal point for showers and thunderstorms over the coming days.

Where storms form there could be locally heavy rain.  There will also be a chance for a few severe thunderstorms.  The primary concern will be hail and gusty winds.  Isolated tornado threat - mostly near the front.

Monitor local media or NOAA Weather Radio for updates on any watches and/or warnings.

Rainfall totals will vary greatly over the coming days.  The heaviest totals will be over the northern half of the region - lighter totals over the southern half.  See the graphic below.

Concerns will center around showers and thunderstorms over the coming days.  Some of the storms could become severe with hail, high winds, and isolated tornadoes.  Monitor for any watches/warnings.

Possibly - yes.  A few severe thunderstorms will be possible over the coming days.  Monitor watches and warnings.

This forecast analysis covers far southern Illinois, southeast Missouri, southwest Indiana, western Kentucky, and northwest Tennessee

HEADLINES:  A cold start to the work week.  Overnight lows on Monday morning will be in the 30s across the region.  Frost will be possible.

Unsettled weather will be on tap for Monday night into Wednesday - it appears the best chance for showers and thunderstorms will be over southeast Missouri into southern Illinois and southern Indiana.  Southern half of the region will have at least chances for scattered showers and thunderstorms during the same time frame - but the most widespread activity is likely to be from Poplar Bluff to Evansville - then northward.

A few storms could become severe on Tuesday/Tuesday evening with hail and gusty winds.  Monitor for updates.

Note here on the rainfall forecast the position of the higher rain totals.  That is the area with the best chances of showers and thunderstorms.

Rainfall totals from Monday night into Wednesday will be in the 0.25"-0.75" range - again the heaviest totals over our northern counties vs southern counties.

Temperatures this week will start out in the 70s on Monday and rise into the 80s on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Severe weather threat appears low this week - will monitor Tuesday for a chance of a few severe storms.

No major concerns - a few thunderstorms on Monday night into Wednesday.  Severe weather risk appears low - perhaps an isolated severe storm on Tuesday and Tuesday night.  Monitor updates.

If you have outdoor plans on Monday night through Wednesday then monitor radars.  Some lightning will be possible.  Can't rule out a few storms producing hail and gusty winds on Tuesday.
